That Just Wrong! a collection of sketch comedy edition by Charles Horn Humor Entertainment eBooks
The sketches are written in the style of plays. The author is kind enough to provide, in the introduction, brief instructions on how to interpret the sketches. Since I'm not an actor, I am more familiar with reading prose, so reading the sketches required a small adjustment on my part. But it was a quick adjustment, and definitely worth it! The sketches are very funny! I also enjoyed the colorful animated illustrations.Seven sketches are included in the book, and all of them are very funny, politically incorrect subjects. The "Behind The Sketches" [sic] section was interesting, providing quite a bit of insight on the stories behind the stories. The section also included tips for staging the sketches. It was in this section that I learned about the You Tube version of "Dish Come Home." I watched the animated version, but admit the skit was funnier when it played out in my imagination. A hyper-linked index was included for quickly jumping to individual sketches and sections of the book.
Be sure to check out That's Just Wrong 2! (a collection of sketch comedy) By the way, Charles Horn, when do we get to read the story that's illustrated on the cover of the first volume? :)

That Just Wrong! a collection of sketch comedy edition by Charles Horn Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews
I have no idea how many sketch comedy collections are out there, but I do know this Charles Horn is a great sketch writer, and these sketches kill. They demolish. They leave no survivors, just the echoes of a thousand guffaws.
In the interest of full disclosure, I will also state that I know this to be true because I've performed most of them. A lot. A lot a lot. And when I read them again in this collection, I invariably want one more chance to get up on stage...to kill again...
What is unique and delightful about this collection is the insight you get into the mind of the writer, not only his general thoughts about sketch comedy, but fascinating tidbits "behind the sketches".
"That's Just Wrong!" is right, not only for sketch comedy performers and writers, but for anyone with an interest in "the funny".
Buy it; your funny bone will thank you.
Chicago is the leading exporter of comedy and comedians in the US --- Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, and many others started at the improv theatre 1/2 a mile from my apartment --- and every week I can see many different high quality sketch or improv shows at several theatres around the city. As a Chicagoan, I've seen lots of sketch comedy both here, LA, NY, and traveling acts, and I have high standards.
The sketches in this book are as good as any of the best sketches of Second City or Saturday Night Live, and they're better than most because you read how the sketches were thought of, written, and performed. Plus I learned dozens of new words for masturbation. These sketches are really laugh out loud funny. Read on public transportation at your own risk --- people were giving me funny looks.
I bought it because the sketch in the sample was decent. The rest of the book is meh.
The book consists of 6 or 7 solidly written sketches, which is what I was looking for as good examples to get started writing my own with. For the price, well worth it.
I clicked on "Look Inside" and laughed immediately when I read the first page of the first sketch. So of course I had to buy it and see more. The premises are fresh and the dialogue gets straight to the point. After seeing and reading a lot of comedy, it gets harder and harder to surprise me. Many SNL sketches and famous movies seem like the same old stuff rehashed. But this book made me laugh out loud. I wish I could write like Charles Horn.
For only $3 on , there's really no reason not to treat yourself.
After writing and publishing my own collections of sketches (Human Interface Parser (Comedy sketches from the feature film) and Some Obscure Comedy Show! (A Sketch Comedy Revue) I was keen to see what else was out there so bought this book, and I've got to say I enjoyed it immensely.
The sketches to do with relationships were very inventive and genuinely funny, although I've got to say the parody based sketches did nothing for me and I didn't even laugh. But having said that the good sketches are so good the ones that misfire are easily forgotten.
There's not very many sketches in the book I guess, but then the price is cheap and there's always volume 2 which I'm going to buy. Horn also includes notes on the staging, background and inspiration for the sketches which I found interesting to read.
All up very good value for money and some very funny sketches in there -)
